Session OverviewDreamwork sessions last for 50 or 80 minutes and occur over Zoom. During this time, I help you understand and interpret the messages of your dreams drawing on my 10+ years of dreamwork study. I truly feel privileged when a dreamer choses to work with me and I look forward exploring the dreamworld together.
More Specifics about a SessionMy Intention and Commitment in a One-to-One Dreamwork Session
In a one-to-one session, my intention is to provide a nurturing, safe environment in which each person can share dreams free of judgement or expectation. Often, we feel afraid or ashamed to talk about our dreams because they reveal parts of ourselves that we are embarrassed about or bring up difficult memories from the past. Nightmares often evoke terror and fear and it can feel difficult to revisit those horrifying events. Sometimes our dreams present us with unimaginable beauty and leave us with a sense of awe that can point to a profound inner transformation that is occurring. Together in a dream session, we create a space where all parts of our dreams – and ourselves – are acknowledged and accepted. Dream Messages, Interpretation, and Guidance Dreams are filled with incredible images and symbols that seek to guide us on our life path, but they often seem illogical and just plain weird. This is because dreams speak a language that incorporates preverbal, primordial, and collective unconscious – all of which are incongruent with our contemporary mode of thinking which is verbal, analytical, and linear. However, with practice, patience, and guidance from a skilled dreamworker, we can begin to understand the language of dreams. Even more, learning how to connect with the images and symbols of our dreams provides a new way of perceiving that extends into waking life. What to Expect in a One-to-One Dreamwork Session The dreamer will ideally provide a written copy of the dream via email the day before our session. This is because I am a very visual learner and it makes it easier for me to comprehend and process the dream. In the 50- or 80-minute dreamwork session, the dreamer will begin by reading the dream aloud. The process of reading the dream aloud often re-evokes the feeling of the dream and brings up details about the dream that were previously forgotten. I then ask the dreamer questions about the dream that provide context and clarity. For example, if a cat appears in the dream, I might ask about the dreamer’s association with cats. This is because dream images have both personal and collective meanings. On a personal level, people have very different feelings and perceptions about cats that are important to note. The dreamer may love cats and sleep in bed with three of them, while another dreamer may be allergic to cats and have to plan their live around not going to places where cats are present. On a collective level, cats might represent fierce independence, femininity, immortality (nine lives), or regalness (as in Egyptian mythology). Both individual and collective aspects are alive in all dreams. Next, I will offer several reflections (i.e., interpretations) of the dream. Dreams always have multiple layers of meanings which hold up a mirror to the dreamer’s life situation and offer life guidance. Themes of spiritual and psychological growth, interpersonal relationships, health, and livelihood are all common and often co-existing in dreams. I see my role as a guide and witness to the dreamer’s process and also a dream language “interpreter.” To me, the dreamer is the expert of their own life and has ultimate authority on what the dream signifies to them. The dreamer is welcomed to share any insights they have gained from the dream reflections. What a Dreamwork Session is Not Because dreams have multiple layers and the dreamer’s understanding of the dream often evolves over time, neither I nor anyone else can give a definitive interpretation of a dream (beware of anyone who tells you they can!). Although profound dreams that give us clear answers to life’s many questions do occur, in my experience they are rare for most people. However, dreams do provide us with clues about what steps to take next and reflect back to us if we are on the right path. It is important to remember that any knowledge or guidance presented by the dream is coming from within the dreamer; I only help the dreamer understand the messages and work toward integrating those messages into their life. Additionally, although dreamwork can feel therapeutic because it provides us with a deeper understanding of our inner lives and provide us with life guidance, dreamwork is not psychotherapy. I hold a non-clinical Master’s degree in Depth (Jungian) Psychology, and although I have completed some clinical training and have studied trauma, I am not a licensed clinician. Session Pricing I offer my services on a sliding-scale basis in order to be able to share the gift of exploring the dreamworld with as many people as possible while still being able to make a living. For 50-minute sessions, the sliding scale payment is $50-$150. For 80-minute sessions, the sliding scale payment is $80-$240. Additional Questions If you have any additional questions about dreamwork or working with me individually, please feel free to contact me. Because I like to connect with the dreamer before I offer any insights about a dream, I am unable to provide consultations about dreams through written correspondence. I look forward to the honor of working with you. |
